A STYLISTIC COMPARISON OF NEWSPAPER EDITORIALS AND NEWS REPORTS IN ENGLISH MEDIA

This study presents a comparative stylistic analysis of newspaper editorials and news reports addressing the same issue within English-language media. Drawing on principles from stylistics and discourse analysis, the research examines how linguistic choices vary across these two journalistic genres in terms of lexis, syntax, modality, and rhetorical strategies. A corpus of paired editorials and news reports from reputable English-language newspapers was compiled to ensure consistency in topic while allowing for genre-based variation.
