Data from "Experimental validation of the active roll control of a barge based on wave information predicted in real-time: a proxy for floating wind turbines"

This dataset contains experimental raw data used in analyzing the experimental results from "Experimental validation of the active roll control of a barge based on wave information predicted in real-time: a proxy for floating wind turbines". This paper details experimental results of a laboratory scale barge experiencing generated waves in a wave tank, that is controlled using a physics-based model of the wave forces as well as previewing of future wave forces, in order to control and stabilize roll motion. Demonstrating real-time motion control of a barge is motivated by the need to stabilize the platform of a Floating Offshore Wind Turbine, since the platform is impacted by ocean waves, affecting both the wind energy production of the turbine blades as well as the structural fatigue of the structure. The experimental results show that real-time roll reduction is successfully achieved using a hydrodynamics wave forces model in the real-time controller, enhanced with predictions of wave forces in the future. The experimental raw data results are included, that were plotted in the figures in "Experimental validation of the active roll control of a barge based on wave information predicted in real-time: a proxy for floating wind turbines".
