Novel biomarkers for contrast-induced acute kidney injury identified from RNA sequencing data

Contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) is a serious complication of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Emerging evidence suggests that messengerRNAs (mRNAs) and long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) could serve as biomarkers for various diseases. 4 patients with postoperative CI-AKI (case group) and 4 patients without CI-AKI (control group) were enrolled among the patients hospitalized in our department undergoing elective PCI. The groups were matched in terms of age, sex, and comorbidities (diabetes, heart failure).
