Towards Just Energy Transition Futures: Examining the interplay between place attachment and energy justice in Australian community energy initiatives

This research argues that notions of place play a critical role in shaping both whether and how people participate in energy transition initiatives, as well as how places themselves are transformed through these processes. It shifts the focus from transitions occurring in places to transitions of places, emphasising the dynamic relationship between people-place and energy systems. By bringing place explicitly into questions and approaches to energy justice literature, this study offers new insights into sustainability transitions. This research examines the interplay between place attachment and energy justice, particular within Australian community energy initiatives as part of just energy transition futures.
