FACTORS AFFECTING THE MORALE OF SUBORDINATE STAFF IN PUBLIC SECTOR INSTITUTIONS: A CASE OF KENYA SCHOOL OF GOVERNMENT, BARINGO
收藏资源简介:
This study examines the work-related factors influencing the morale of subordinate staff at the Kenya School of Government (KSG) Baringo Campus. Using a descriptive research design with 61 respondents, the study assessed the effects of working hours, staffing levels, compensation, and institutional morale-enhancement strategies. Findings indicate that long working hours, staff shortages, inadequate and non-transparent compensation, limited recognition systems, insufficient training opportunities, and lack of counseling services significantly reduce employee morale. Overall, these challenges contribute to dissatisfaction, fatigue, and reduced motivation among staff. The study concludes that improving morale requires inclusive human resource practices, fair workload distribution, transparent reward systems, enhanced professional development opportunities, and stronger employee support mechanisms to promote better institutional performance.
