Data on loss of vital ecosystems and ecosystem services from reclamation for cropland

This data was produced by Research center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Based on assessment on changes of key ecosystem services and wildlife habitat due to restoration or reclamation for cropland in China, we analyzed spatial pattern of proportion of vital ecosystems converted to cropland from 2000 to 2015 for different dominant ecosystem services. At provincial level, we counted quantities of ecosystem services, wildlife habitat proportion, reclamation area, changes in ecosystem services and wildlife habitats due to reclamation for cropland or ecological restoration, as well as grain yield, climate, terrain, soil properties, etc. Comparisons were also made between original cropland and newly reclaimed cropland in terms of humidity, soil and terrain conditions.
