Cereibacter azotoformans strain ORIO genome sequencing and assembly

Here we provide the complete genome sequence of a novel freshwater photoarsenotroph, named Cereibacter azotoformans str. ORIO (Owens River Isolate Oxidizer). ORIO was isolated from sediment at Owens River, CA, USA, a freshwater river which receives arsenic-rich water from hot springs. ORIO is a facultative anaerobe that uses an Arx-type arsenite-oxidase for photoarsenotrophy. ORIO serves as a model organism for understanding the impact of photosynthesis on arsenic biogeochemical cycling in freshwater environments.
