INTEGRATION OF ATLAS, ADRAS, SUZANI, AND TRADITIONAL EMBROIDERY ELEMENTS INTO CONTEMPORARY CLOTHING DESIGN

The preservation and modernization of traditional textile heritage have become significant challenges in contemporary fashion design. Uzbek national fabrics such as Atlas and Adras, together with Suzani and traditional embroidery techniques, represent unique artistic expressions that reflect the country's rich cultural identity and craftsmanship. Integrating these traditional decorative elements into contemporary clothing design enables designers to preserve cultural values while meeting modern aesthetic, functional, and market demands. This study explores innovative approaches to incorporating Atlas, Adras, Suzani, and traditional embroidery elements into contemporary apparel. The research analyzes the artistic characteristics, symbolic meanings, color compositions, ornamental patterns, and design principles of these traditional textiles. Furthermore, it examines methods of adapting national motifs through modern silhouettes, digital design technologies, sustainable fashion practices, and contemporary production techniques. The findings demonstrate that combining traditional Uzbek textile heritage with modern fashion design not only enhances aesthetic value but also contributes to cultural sustainability, creative innovation, and the international recognition of Uzbekistan's fashion industry. The study provides practical recommendations for designers seeking to develop contemporary garments inspired by national traditions while maintaining authenticity and global competitiveness.
