Long-read sequencing and assembly of version 5 of the B73 maize genome

This is the fifth version of the maize B73 inbred line genomic sequence. It is an update of the previous BioProject PRJNA10769. Sequencing and assembly was performed by the NAM Sequencing Consortium (comprised of researchers from the University of Georgia, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and Iowa State University), which sequenced and assembled the 25 NAM (Nested Association Mapping) maize genomes in conjunction with this version of B73. This genome was generated by PacBio long-read sequencing, polished with Illumina reads, and Bionano optical map technology was used for scaffold assembly.
