A cross-sectional analysis of the gut microbiota from Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia.

We conducted an observational study of the gut microbiota from Bali, Indonesia, by sequencing the V4 variable region of the 16S rRNA gene in stool samples. The study received ethic permission from Udayana University Faculty of Medicine and Sanglah Hospital Ethic Commission at 18 September 2014 in Denpasar, Indonesia (No. 1286/UN.14.2/Litbang/2014) and was endorsed by Eijkman Institute Research Ethics Commission at 24 December 2014 in Jakarta, Indonesia (No. 80). Study enrollment was performed on 19 – 23 January 2015, at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Denpasar, Bali Province, Indonesia. We obtained fecal microbiota samples from 41 adult women, aged 18 - 27 years old (mean age = 21 years old). All data have been de-identified.
