Production Licence

The C-NLOPB administers a scheduled land tenure system in which the Offshore Area has been divided into eight regions. Each region is categorized as either low activity, high activity, or mature, based on the level of oil and gas exploration and development activities. Upon a successful bid, in a Call for Bids round, an Exploration Licence (EL) is issued. ELs are valid for 6 years and can be extended to 9 years if a well is drilled. Upon success discovery and meeting other requirements, a Significant Discovery Licenses (SDL) can be issued. Upon commerciality, a Production Licence (PL) can be issued.
