资源简介:
The Changing African Family Project is segmented into 3 projects, which aims to assess family and household structure in African communities. Project 1, titled “The Beginning of Family Limitation”, focuses on fertility, fertility control and family planning communication. This Project is further split into 2 files, Part A & Part B, where Part B addresses only those female participants who have ever used any form of birth control, traditional or modern. Project 2, titled “The Value of Children”, studies the social and economic value of children. Project 3, titled “The Achieved Small Family”, is a study of the nature of complete small families. This study reflects Project 2. Some of the topics covered include: information about living children; attitudes to family planning, family size, money, and infertility; the economics of having children (cost of education and everyday living, their earning potential, etc); and, information on grown children and the support they give to their parents. Background information includes gender, date of birth, age, marital status, number of marriages, position in household (first wife, second wife, etc.), age when first married, occupation of husband and self, income, level of education for husband and self, place of birth, place where lived at age 10 years, and religion.
