资源简介:
Section 42 of the Land Act 1860 provided for the sale of lands previously unsuccessfully offered at auction. If necessary, the price was to be reduced but to no less than the minimum upset price of one pound per acre. Applicants could apply to purchase the land. The Land Act 1860, the Land Act 1862, the Amending Land Act 1865 and the Land Act 1869 all provided for the purchase of land by the lessee or licensee giving those persons a pre-emptive right to do so if certain conditions had been fulfilled.Section 40 of the Land Act 1860 allowed lessees to purchase a leased sub-division at the same price as the purchased sub-division of the allotment and section had been sold for.Under Sections 33 and 34 of the Land Act 1862, holders of residence and cultivation licenses had a pre-emptive right of purchase of the areas they were licensed to occupy. License fees were credited as part of the purchase price. In the Land Act of 1869, Section 31 gave a pre-emptive right of purchase to holders of occupation licenses under Section 42 of the Amending Land Act 1865 (regulating the occupation of auriferous lands). Various conditions had to be met for this right to be exercised. The licensee had to have occupied the land for at least two and a half years, have made improvements to the land and no objection to the alienation of the land was made. License fees were to be credited against the purchase price. The licensee also had the option of taking a lease on the land and paying the purchase price in ten equal instalments.Section 33 of the same Act extended the time of the rights of purchase already granted to holders of occupation licenses in the Land Act 1862 and in Section 17 of the Amending Land Act 1865.This series contains details of purchases under all of these sections. Details given are the number of the lot, the location given as county and parish, the section and allotment and its area, the price per acre, the date of purchase and the total amount paid, the purchasers name and address and any remarks. Additional details given for sales under Section 42 Land Act 1862 are the date and place when the lot was first offered for sale. For purchases under Sections 31 and 33 of the Land Act 1869 details are given of the district, the date of selection, the name of the lessee, correspondence references and when the transaction was noted in the lease books.VPRS 13104/P1 unit 1 was previously registered as VPRS 1287/P unit 1. The records were reserialised in 2002.
