资源简介:
This project contains research materials from a qualitative study examining how Spanish-speaking adults in the United States interpret tornado Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs). The dataset does not include interview transcripts, as participant confidentiality is protected under Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols governing research with vulnerable populations. Instead, this project makes available the research instruments and supporting materials used to conduct the study. Included materials consist of the full bilingual (Spanish/English) interview protocol used across 27 semi-structured, think-aloud interviews. The protocol encompasses icebreaker questions assessing participants' disaster subcultures and prior hazard experience, think-aloud instructions and WEA stimuli (both 90-character and 360-character Spanish-language tornado WEAs issued by the National Weather Service), structured follow-up questions operationalizing constructs from the Warning Response Model (WRM; Mileti & Sorensen, 1990) and Protection Motivation Theory (PMT; Rogers, 1975), and closing questions addressing mobile device settings and WEA receipt.
