Pierce College Farm Soil 16S Survey

The goal of this study is to characterize the microbial communities of the arable soils at Los Angeles Pierce College. We are interested in the interaction between humans, plants, livestock, and soil microorganisms in urban fields. And how different land management practices affect soil microbial communities. The Pierce Farm has the potential to promote human health in the community by growing food and simultaneously harnessing natural biological pathways responsible for detoxification arising from the soil food web.
