"In Modular Multilevel Converters (MMC), circulatingcurrents consist of both DC and AC components. However,these currents are significantly affected by even harmonic distortions,which introduce ripples in the Sub-Module (SM) capacitorvoltages. These ripples contribute to the circulating currents,increasing the voltage stress on the SM switches and adverselyimpacting overall system performance. This paper presents a systematicapproach to mitigating circulating currents by employingan Extended Order Generalized Integrator (EOGI), which effectivelyremoves even harmonic components from the converter\u2019slegs. The proposed solution has been evaluated against existingmethods and demonstrated to offer enhanced robustness in theface of parameter uncertainties and sudden load variations. Thescheme was initially validated using MATLAB\/Simulink, withfurther real-time performance verification conducted via OPALRTsimulation and experiments, yielding promising results."
