Dataset used in article "Mathematical optimisation in the honeycomb cardboard industry: A model for the two-dimensional variable-sized cutting stock problem"

The dataset presented is part of the one used in the article “Mathematical optimisation in the honeycomb cardboard industry: A model for the two-dimensional variable-sized cutting stock problem” by P. Terán-Viadero, A. Alonso-Ayuso and F. Javier Martín-Campo, submitted for publication (2024).

In the paper mentioned above, currently under revision, a model for a variant of the 2-Dimensional Variable-Sized Cutting Stock Problem is presented. This model is flexible so different cutting patterns are generated based on the maximum number of different items.

The dataset presented here includes eight of the twenty-five cases used in the paper (the rest cannot be presented for confidentiality reasons). For each case, the characteristics of the order and the solution obtained by the model for the different cutting patterns considered (1-item, 2-item, 2-item 1-group and 3-item) are provided for the different scenarios analysed in the paper.
