Dispersal Distances of Spotted Lanternfly in Virginia, 2020, from Detections Data

Calculated dispersal distances for spotted lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula (White)) to specific locations in Virginia, during the calendar year 2020, collected by USDA-APHIS-Plant Protection and Quarantine. Latitudes and longitudes and other spatial identifications have been removed to protect privacy.

Data were used to demonstrate fitting an exponential decay curve, or dispersal kernel, for total distances travelled from the presumed epicenter (initial detection site) of the population, in a manuscript titled "A novel design method for customized visual delimiting surveys for plant pests based on transects and scouting."

"SLF VA distances v1.xlsx" is the data for all records in this dataset. Data are distances calculated from the first detection (presumed epicenter).
