Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus strain: LSE9910-15 Genome sequencing and assembly

Data provided by the Pathology Department of the Biosafety Laboratory (LSE), at the National Laboratory of Veterinary Services (LANASEVE), SENASA, Costa Rica, indicated that during 2011 and 2017, there were a total of 1482 brain samples of animals with presumptive nervous symptoms. Of these, only 19% (281 brains) had histological lesions. Encephalitis lesions compatible with a viral origin were the most frequent pathological finding in 142 samples, rabies virus was the etiology cause in 45 samples. However, in 97 of the 142 samples, it has not yet been possible to establish an etiological diagnosis. The goal of this study was to determinate which is the etiology of an encephalitis case in one of these animals.
