资源简介:
Dataset for Rasch analyses of the Statistical Anxiety and Attitudes Towards Statistics Questionnaire (Holdning og Forhold til Statistik – revised; HFS-R)
Data from the study reported in
Nielsen, T., Fellinghauer, C., Strobl, C., Kronthaler, D., & Kreiner, S. (2025). Statistical Anxiety and Attitudes Towards Statistics in psychology students: A measurement comparison study of the German and Danish language versions of the HFS-R. Educational Methods & Psychometrics, 3, Article No. 19. https://dx.doi.org/10.61186/emp.2025.6
Data are from Danish and Swiss Psychology students: Total sample N = 813 (Swiss students n = 368, Danish students n = 445)
The data set contains the background variables described below.
Sample: 1 = Danish, 2 = Swiss
Course (Statistics course at university level): 1 = 1st statistics course, 2 = Not 1st statistics course
Math (Perceived adequacy of math to learn statistics): 1 = more than adequate/adequate, 2 = not quite adequate/inadequate
Stat (Expectancy to need statistics in future employment): 1 = yes, 2 = maybe, 3 = no
Gender: 1 = female, 2 = male
Agegroup (median split): 1 = 21 years and younger, 2 = 22 years and older
The data set contains items from the four HFS-R subscales, with item numbering from the original Danish questionnaire* for comparability.
The Test and Class Anxiety subscale: TCA1, TCA2, TCA3, TCA4, TCA5, TCA7, TCA8
The Interpretation Anxiety subscale: IA1, IA2, IA3, IA4, IA5, IA6, IA7, IA8
The Fear of Asking for Help subscale: FAH1, FAH2, FAH3, FAH4, FAH5
The Worth of Statistics subscale: WS2, WS3r, WS5, WS6, WS7, WS8
The labels for the coding of the response scales for TCA, IA and FAH items are: 1 = no anxiety, 2 = a little anxiety, 3 = some anxiety, and 4 = a lot of anxiety. Note that English is only provided for understanding, while the Danish and German labels used are provided in the article.
The labels for the coding of the response scales for WS items are: 1 = definitely disagree, 2 = disagree more than agree, 3 = agree more than disagree, and 4 = definitely agree. Note that English is only provided for understanding, while the Danish and German labels used are provided in the article.
Item statements are included in the article (https://dx.doi.org/10.61186/emp.2025.6) in both Danish and German, and the Danish and the German questionnaires are available as pdfs from https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14288640 and https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.14315982
