HREA Satellite Electricity Access

Settlement-level estimates of electricity access, power supply reliability, and energy usage for 115 developing countries (2013-2020). Derived from statistical analysis of the complete VIIRS nighttime light imagery archive combined with high-resolution settlement layers. For India, data is split by state. Provides three key indicators: likelihood of electrification (0-1), proportion of nights lit, and calibrated light output. ~30m resolution based on settlement layer. Available as Cloud-Optimised GeoTIFFs on AWS. Key dataset for mapping electricity access gaps.
