资源简介:
Our main goal is to understand adaptive responses and vulnerability to environmental stressors (agricultural activity, pesticide contamination, increased water temperature and its interaction with pesticide contamination) of aquatic larval stages of the mayfly Andesiops torrens (Insecta, Ephemerotptera, Baetidae) in agricultural watersheds of Chile, using an integrative approach combining water chemistry, ecotoxicology, population genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, field sampling and laboratory experiments.Although contamination by agrichemicals is widespread and recognized as a significant threat, and freshwater invertebrate biodiversity is declining worldwide, little is known to date about the genetic, epigenetic and gene expression effects of pesticides on freshwater invertebrate populations. Ecotoxicological studies are mainly carried out on crustacean models, and developing new research on other taxa such as mayflies should bring new insights into the mechanisms of adaptive responses to pesticide contamination in freshwater arthropods.
