Semen quality is a critical economic trait, yet the molecular mechanisms distinguishing the overall genetic determinants from the key pathways regulating this complex trait remain unclear. This study integrated phenotypic data and testicular transcriptome data from HY-LINE SONIA parent stock roosters to investigate this question. Phenotypic data on semen quality were collected from the roosters from 19 to 23 weeks of age, and at 23 weeks of age, the roosters were stratified into high and low semen quality groups, with 5 individuals per group selected for RNA-seq analysis.
