Fonsecaea pugnacius is unique in combining features of chromoblastomycosis and secondary neurotropic dissemination in a single strain in an immunocompetent patient. The fungus presented with muriform cells in skin and with hyphae in brain. In the present study, we performed genomic analysis of F. pugnacius strain CBS 139214 aiming to understand the pathogenic profile of this black yeast-like fungus.
