MARS radar meteor catalogue 1978

This dataset contains a partially restored catalogue of faint radio meteors observed near Kharkiv (49.4° N, 36.9° E) by the 1-MW Meteor Automated Radar System (MARS) operating at 31.1 MHz. It preserves original radar-c omputed results and provides a unique historical record of early automated meteor detection. The radar computed orbital and other parameters internally and printed results on paper strips. The original radar observations (1972–1978) were supervised by A.A. Tkachuk and B.L. Kashcheyev, with contributions from Yu.I. Voloshchuk and A.A. Dyakov in automation and data processing. S.V. Kolomiyets participated in collecting observational data from the 1970s (as a student/young researcher). During the 1990s–2000s, these results were digitized under the supervision of Yu.I. Voloshchuk. S.V. Kolomiyets participated in digitizing the paper-based data. In 2022–2025, the digital data were stored, reprocessed and restored by S.V. Kolomiyets.
