Experimental disruption of the gut microbiome of the great tit using a host native strain

The gut microbiome of wild great tits (Parus major) was characterised using 16S sequencing on the MiSeq platform. Subjects were in 2 groups: experimental and control. All birds received supplementary feeding but experimental birds also received freeze dried powder containing Lactobacillus kimchicus which had been isolated from a great tits faeces the previous year.
