PY79 is a widely used laboratory strain of Bacillus subtilis. We sequenced the PY79 genome to high coverage with both the PacBio RSII and Illumina HiSeq2000 platforms. Initial assembly was performed using HGAP in smrtanalysis 2.0.1, and the original PacBio data was used to twice refine the assembly, followed by a final correction with Illumina paired end reads.
