Microbial community dynamics in the surface mucus layer of Porites lobata exposed to sedimentation at Honoli?i, Hawai?i

This study characterizes the surface mucus layer (SML) microbiome of Porites lobata corals exposed to sedimentation at Honoli?i, Hawai?i. Coral mucus samples were collected before, during, and after an acute sedimentation event to evaluate how microbial diversity and composition respond to sediment stress. DNA was extracted from mucus swabs and 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing was performed to profile bacterial communities. This dataset provides a time series of coral-associated microbiomes and supports future research on microbial indicators of environmental stress and coral resilience.
