Transcriptome analysis of dry cows transitioned from forage to 65% grain diet

This study aimed to explore the changes in global gene expression in the epithelial transcriptome during diet transition from forage to high-grain and the modulation through supplementation with phytogenic feed additives (PHY). Overall design: Rumen biopsies were collected from 9 ruminally-canulated non-lactating Holstein cows fed a 100% baseline forage diet (FD) and then transitioned to high-grain (HG; 65% concentrate) feeding. Cows were randomly allocated into two groups, 5 control (CON) and 4 supplemented with PHY.
