Manatee Sightings View

Overview This hosted feature service provides a filtered view of manatee sighting records collected through the I Spy A Manatee mobile app and used in the Manatee Sightings Viewer experience. It supports viewing and managing reported observations of manatees across the service area. Feature Layer The ManateeSightings layer contains individual sighting entries with observer details, sighting date, reported activity, counts of adult and calf manatees, comments, administrative review information, and response status fields. The layer includes coded values for activity and approval-related attributes, supporting consistent reporting and review workflows for manatee observations. Use Cases Public and staff review of reported manatee sightings Tracking manatee activity types such as swimming, feeding, resting, injury, and mortality reports Supporting case review, approval, and response coordination Displaying current and historical sighting records in GIS applications and web viewers Geographic Coverage The service covers manatee sighting activity within the Broward County area.
