GWM: An integrated global resource of wetland microbiomes linking environmental metadata, community profiles, and genome-resolved metabolic traits

we present the Global Wetland Microbiome (GWM) database, a comprehensive resource linking environmental metadata, community profiles, and genome-resolved metabolic traits. GWM integrates 1,962 samples, combining 129 newly sequenced field-collected samples with 1,833 public datasets retrieved from the NCBI Sequence Read Archive (SRA) and NGDC Genome Sequence Archive (GSA). We generated comprehensive taxonomic community profiles for all 1,962 samples. Furthermore, to achieve genome-resolved resolution, we reconstructed 5,379 high-quality, sample-specific metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) from 251 representative samples (including all field-collected datasets). We further comprehensively decoded the metabolic potential of these genomes by mapping gene-level annotations to a curated set of 549 KEGG modules. To facilitate data accessibility and exploration, we developed a user-friendly web interface (https://chenglab.zju.edu.cn/) featuring flexible search tools and interactive visualizations. This platform provides a holistic view for investigating environmental associations, taxonomic profiles, and gene-level functional annotations across global wetland ecosystems.
