资源简介:
A survey of 955 dairy producers was fielded in two major dairy rural production zones around Addis Ababa, the zones of North and West Shewa; in suburban zones; and in the city of Addis Ababa in January and February 2018. 94 farming households were interviewed in Addis Ababa, 248 in suburban areas in the Oromia Special Zone surrounding Finfinne, and 600 in rural areas. We also interviewed 13 large commercial farms, defined as those with 25 or more cows (3 from Addis Ababa, 8 from sub-urban and 2 from rural areas). We employed stratified random sampling and details of the sampling strategy is found in the attachment. After the selection of the sample household, a comprehensive survey was fielded that collected information on household characteristics, income generating activities, assets, and details on cows and dairy activities. Policy makers, research, and other stakeholders can use this data to analyses dairy value chain in Ethiopia and changes happening in livestock and dairy practices in Ethiopia. This dataset was collected through research of the project “Improving the evidence and policies for better performing livestock systems in Ethiopia” lead by the International Food Policy Research Institution as part of the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Livestock Systems.
