Different with the maternally controlled embryonic diapause in mammalian, chicken embryonic diapause is crucially determined by the environmental temperature. The molecular control of the embryonic diapause remains blank. Here we fully illustrated the dynamic transcriptional profile of embryos from pre-diapause-diapause-reactivated states. The transcriptomic data and in vivo test revealed a strong cell proliferation arrest in diapause state. Our dynamic transcriptomic data also demonstrated the converted gene expression pattern for the initiation and termination of diapause.
