BIOL2050 Lortie LAB 3: Grasslands Dataset 2 Species Abundance

We identified an easily spotted species of plant in the Cows Vetch, which flowers in a vibrant purple blossom. The grasslands provide a suitable environment because they feature a large amount of vegetation in condensed sections. The use of the transect method is efficient at identifying a specific organism over the large expanse of the grasslands area. The method is explained as laying out a 25m transact over a random line of the large area, and walking along the transact to observe the specific plant species on the line or very close to the line. We defined plants being close to the line as being within 5 feet of the transect. Our observed traits included distance from our initial point that the plant was observed, height of the plant, number of leaves, and number of flowers. Data observed and recorded on september 23, 2015 at the grasslands lot of York University between the times of 2:30PM -5:30PM.
