This archive presents the results of an archaeological recording project conducted in advance of demolition work at the former Moorfield Stadium, Easington, Co Durham. A photographic survey of the stadium and its buildings has been carried out. The greyhound track, originally called the Moorfield Stadium, opened in 1934. It was laid out as a 380-yard track. In the 1960s and 1970s the Easington site included 70 kennels and had a licenced and a tea bar; races were held on Thursday and Saturday evenings. The main annual events were the Moorfield Challenge Trophy and the Bank Holiday Stakes. The track was finally closed in 2017. The track and all of its buildings have been photographed and recorded.
