La technologie au service du patrimoine culturel immatériel de l’Afrique dans un contexte de conflit armé : cas de la région de l’extrême nord du Cameroun

The international centre for research and documentation on African Traditions and Languages (CERDOTOLA) is committed to documenting and safeguarding aspects of Africa’s traditions and languages. This had been traditionally achieved through collection of written texts, and marginally as provided by the state of the art technologies, through audio recording on tapes. The archive of languages and Oral Resources of africa (ALORA) is a regional archive recently set up at CERDOTOLA’laboratory based in yaounde (cameroon), within the realm of the innovative networking in infrastructure for endangered languages (INNET). The main goal of ALORA is to be able to save these treasuries from irreversible impairing or loss, and to serve as repositories for ongoing and future research data. Also, ALORA offers a cutting-edge infrastructure for research in the digital humanities realm, especially for hosting extensive, cross-linguistic, cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary digital corpora. With the intensification of cross-border African conflict, as boko haram at the far north of cameroon plans for the preservation of intangible cultural heritage must take place to preserve memory of the people who is affected.
