The mangrove ecosystem serves as a important link between terrestrial and marine ecosystem. Microbulbifer mangrovi strain DD-13 was isolated from the mangrove ecosystem of Goa, India and degrades multiple polysaccharides. Strain DD-13 degrades the complex polysaccharides present in the mangrove litter and presumably helps in recycling of carbon in mangrove ecosystem.Annotation of polysaccharide degrading genes in Microbulbifer mangrovi would unravel the extraordinary capability of this bacteria to degrade complex polysaccharides that can be further exploited to use algal waste as a bio-resource for biofuel production.
