William Westney at the fourMs Lab (2010)

Pianist William Westney captured at the fourMs Lab, University of Oslo, in February 2010, across three performance settings: EXPERIMENT: marker-based Qualisys motion capture of 8 takes (Liszt 'Mephisto Waltz' a/b and Harold Arlen 'That Old Black Magic' in dynamic 1/2/3 and emotional angry/sad/happy variations) as raw Qualisys .qtm, exported 3-D marker trajectories .tsv, synchronised audio .wav and video .mp4, plus per-take and per-marker plots CONCERT REHEARSAL: a full multi-camera run-through of the concert programme WITHOUT an audience PUBLIC CONCERT: with an audience. Rehearsal and concert cover the four concert works (Haydn, Liszt 'Mephisto Waltz', Gershwin, 'Over the Rainbow') in up to five synchronised camera views (side, above, face, cam1, cam2) at 720x576/25fps; the Mephisto Waltz appears in all three settings. Documentation includes a panel discussion (Grund/Westney/Jensenius) with transcript, the concert programme, and photographs. The event was designed to study the performer's movement with and without an audience.
