Marine microbial diversity from the Gerlache Strait, Antarctica

This dataset consists of samples including 16S and 18S rDNA genes from different size-fraction across marine vertical profiles in the Gerlache Strait, Antarctica.Samples were collected during the Chilean Antarctic Expedition number 56 (ECA56), under the project ANID Postdoctorado 3190369, FONDAP IDEAL 1515003 and COPAS Coastal FB210021 (Funded by Ministry of Sciences, Chile). Gerlache sampling was lead by Juan Hofer (PUCV, Chile) and Mireia Mestre (UdeC, Chile).Samples are from the Gerlache Strait, situated in the Western Antarctic Peninsula. Samples were collected in February 2020 onboard the R/V Karpuj (INACH, Chile).Samples were taken at different depths. Samples were stored frozen and, after the Antarctic expedition, samples were transported to a molecular lab. The cold chain was fully guaranteed.
