Transcriptomic characterization of hemocytes in Crassostrea virginica

This study was designed to generate a comparative transcriptomic analysis that explores the molecular differences between granulocytes and agranulocytes across the hemolymph and pallial fluid. Hemocyte subpopulations of the eastern oyster, C. virginica, were sorted using flow cytometry before submitted to RNA sequencing. The results underline the role of pallial hemocytes in peripheral immunity in marine bivalves.
