Reef fish biomarker data from bile and liver at natural reefs sites in the northern Gulf of Mexico from November 2010 - August 2011

Various biochemicals that are induced when fish and other organisms are exposed to petroleum hydrocarbons serve as ideal biomarkers of oil exposure. Here, bile fluorescence at 290/330 nm is presented, along with liver ethoxy resorufin-o-deethylase activity (EROD), liver superoxide dismutase activity, and liver glutathione-s-transferase activity as measurements of phase 1 and phase 2 detoxification and oxidative defenses.
