We aim to report the complete chloroplast genome of Solidago altissina L. which is a globally recognized invasive plant. The length of the complete genome of S. altissima is 152,961 bp, and have the typical quadripartite structure [including a large single copy (LSC): 84,829 bp; a small single copy (SSC): 18,084 bp; and two inverted repeat (IR) regions: 25,024 bp] commonly found in angiosperms. The genome contains a total of 129 genes, consisting of 85 coding sequence (CDS), 36 tRNA genes, and eight rRNA genes. To understand the phylogenetic relationship between S. altissima and its related species, the result was revealed that S. altissima is closely related to Symphyotrichum subulatum. We anticipate that our findings will provide fundamental data for the future phylogenetic and evolutionary studies, while also research on species invasion and resolving complexity of S. altissima.
