Effects of Overtaking Disturbances on the Motion of Plane & Cylindrical Shock waves In a Magnatogasdynamics

The passage explores how overtaking disturbances behind the flow affect diverging plane and cylindrical shock waves in an ideal gas under a magnetic field with axial, azimuthal, and radial components. Using the CCW approach and assuming an initial density distribution ρ0=ρ′r−ω, analytical and numerical analyses were conducted for both weak and strong shocks. Results show that while the inclusion of magnetic energy e0 doesn't qualitatively alter the dependence of flow variables on parameters like r,β2,ω,ξ, it reverses the trends of shock and particle velocities with propagation distance r in strong shock scenarios.
