Database of cold-formed steel coupon properties at elevated temperatures

This project compiles test data on cold-formed steel (CFS) material properties at elevated temperatures obtained from coupon tests published in the literature. The data supports evaluation of the elevated temperature response of CFS members and structures for structural fire analysis and design.

The data has been compiled from 33 studies published between 2000 and 2025. The metadata spreadsheet lists the references with key information about the study including material grade and test method (steady-state or transient testing). Individual spreadsheets provide the measured material retention factors with temperature (for elastic modulus, yield strength with 0.2% proof stress, yield strength with 2% proof stress, and ultimate strength) for each source study and for each tested material within a study.

The project offers the most comprehensive publicly available dataset for the material properties of cold-formed steel at elevated temperatures to the authors' knowledge. This dataset can support the development of fire design provisions and enable engineers and researchers to conduct calculations and numerical modeling of fire response of CFS structures.
