Warming, precipitation shifts, and extreme events are strongly impacting microbial communities, which in turn are likely to disrupt the peatland C balance. Our research aims to understand and predict the specific responses of microorganisms to climate change, in terms of diversity, community structure, and species interactions. We also aim to extrapolate the effects of climate change on microbial attributes at a global peatland scale to quantify the microbial-induced effects on the global carbon cycle.
