Under the terms of the Child Welfare Act (No. 17 of 1939) Part VII, a licence was required by the person in charge of any place established or used for "the reception and care of one or more children under the age of seven years, apart from their mother or other parent". This series constitutes a 5% random annual sample of files relating to licence applications. The files include the reports of District Officers re the proposed foster home, copies of the licence, reports of follow-up visits by Departmental officers, documents relating to the revocation of a licence, and correspondence.(12/3917.2-3918, 18/1353-1354.1). 2 boxes, 2 bundles.
