On 25 May 2022, the President of Suriname declared a national emergency from flooding, impacting the districts of Brokopondo, Sipaliwini, Marowijne, Para, Saramacca, Coronie and Nickerie. After a short dry season between February and March 2022, steady and heavy rain showers fell between March and May.
Further, it is predicted that the rains will continue until August, which we are monitoring with the local meteorology office and the Caribbean Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology
