The reference sequence (RefSeq) genome assembly is provided by NCBI using assembly instructions provided by the Broad Institute. The reference genome is annotated using an evidence-based approach that interprets ab initio predictions (About) in the context of alignment results of a) curated RefSeq records that are maintained independently of the genome annotation process; b) cDNA and EST transcript data; and c) protein sequence data.
