The X-COBOL Dataset was developed by the Intelligent Software and Human Analytics Lab at the Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati. It contains 84 COBOL projects mined from GitHub, totaling 1255 COBOL files. The dataset comprehensively documents the project development lifecycle, including metadata such as commits, issues, and pull requests. During its creation, 1020 repositories were screened, and 84 high-quality repositories were finally selected through manual evaluation and automated scripts. This dataset aims to support research on the modernization and maintenance of COBOL projects, addressing the persistent usage of COBOL in critical domains such as finance and government.
