Effects on the liver transcriptome in Baltic salmon: contributions of contamination with organohalogen compounds and origin of salmon

Salmon liver samples were collected from three areas of the Baltic Sea during years 2007 and 2008. Individuals with wild or hachery-reared origin were compared within the same area. Areas were compared either between wild fishes or between hatchery-reared fishes in terms of organohalogen levels and transcriptome. KEGG pathway anaylsis was performed for the differentially expressed genes as well as transcription factor analysis. Dose dependent connections between contaminants and transcripts were also analysed.
